Everyone involved in a community’s waterworks (Operators, Administration and Council Members) are encouraged to attend this important workshop. This workshop is designed to give the attendee a better understanding of provincial regulatory requirements using the federal and provincial guidelines and legislation, as it applies to the water and wastewater utility, as the guide. The history of waterborne disease outbreaks are discussed, illustrating how and why drinking water regulations originated. The federal Drinking Water Quality Guidelines, The Wastewater System Effluent Regulations, Environmental Management and Protection Act (EMPA) and the provincial Waterworks and Sewage Works Regulations and permits to operate will be discussed in detail during this workshop.
